This showcase features several collaborations with brands that believe in the potential of illustration as a political medium. As an artform at heart, illustration can translate complex ideas into understandable, emotive visual stories with incomparable communicative potential.
While I continuously experiment with different styles, I tackle illustration commissions like any other design project: message first. The goal is to clearly communicate a story to its audience without conveying a classist aesthetic agenda that excludes a wide majority of key players. Illustration in that sense is meant to grant visual access.
My illustration projects address themes of human rights, feminism, anti-fascism, climate change and conflict. Clients like Global Ground Media use illustration in their on-ground reporting on financial and political happenings in South-East Asia while others like the A-Project advocate and mobilize for topics like gender, sexuality, reproductive justice, sexual health and rights while offering direct support to women and trans individuals.
