Berlinale Talents Key Visuals

Berlinale posters are a familiar sight across Berlin, and in recent years, I’ve had the pleasure of contributing to this visual landscape. I was commissioned to design the key visuals for Berlinale Talents, the talent development initiative of the Berlin International Film Festival. Held annually at HAU Hebbel am Ufer, Berlinale Talents is one of the most significant platforms for emerging filmmakers, bringing together 200 selected creatives each year and connecting them to a global network of nearly 10,000 alumni.

2025: Listen Courageously

In collaboration with Ada Favaron, we created a key visual that embodies courageous listening as an active, cultivated process. The illustration features bold, hybrid forms—ears merging with petals—symbolizing the interplay of strength and sensitivity. The visual contrasts hard and soft elements, reflecting the tensions and nuances of truly listening.

2024: Common Tongues

How do we communicate across languages and perspectives? Our 2024 visual, also designed with Ada Favaron, interprets the Berlinale Talents theme, Common Tongues – Speaking Out in the Language of Cinema, with a playful yet thought-provoking composition. A singular eye, multiple mouths—each element speaks to both individual expression and collective storytelling.

2022: Cinema(nts)

Film is a collaborative effort. My 2022 key visual illustrates this through an unexpected metaphor: a swarm of ants. From a distance, they appear as a chaotic mass, yet up close, they reveal a highly organized system of cooperation, division of labor, and shared effort—all essential to the filmmaking process. The artwork nods to the intricate balance between the individual and the collective, with a touch of humor.
